Oh! Your writing here is so intense! I’m in your shoes - the one on the good and the useless leg - all the way. Except I don’t have the strength or the fearlessness to pull myself up!
And you didn't have trekking equipment. I am sorry that you had to experience this terror. And I am so grateful you are here to share it with us. I'm in the doctor's office so I can't listen to the music but will be so later and look forward to that!
A negative abyss, the song Helpless " by Neil Young pops into mind, navigating the space between a locked-in space but beauty above...helpless, helpless.
Yes, a beautiful song about loss of childhood/home/memories, as is Joanie's song also beautiful about loss of self/falling in love. Of course, there are many about losing love. But Old Old Joe song idea is so true (!) and, as for The Climb... Well, the lyrics are uncannily dead-on. I don't even like the song that much, but when I listened to the words, they brought tears, shaking me up emotionally.
Too anxiety provoking after waking up!!
Too anxiety-provoking just writing the words in the mid-afternoon. All-around terrifying.

TG, CN. Fireman strength: you never know you have it until you need it, and you find you do.

awful - and he was with a group and a guide - not alone like you.
I had nothing except a midsize knapsack and borrowed sleeping bag, both of which probably kept my body (esp head!) from breaking up upon impact..
so scary. horrendous
Yep. Very sad. The trail has its dangers, but I wonder if his tour group guide should not have been keeping a better eye on him, a man in his fifties.
Terrifying in its concision! Well done!
Thank you. It's not easy reliving it. Illustrating and, to a surprising degree, deejaying it, makes the experience terrifyingly real.
